Allergens in Food

According to the declaration rules for food allergens that came into force in November 2005, several allergenic substances included in a list must be declared. This list of “substances or products causing allergies or intolerances” is also found in Annex II of the new Food Information Regulation (Regulation [EC] No. 1169/2011 of 25 October 2011). If these are ingredients, they must be clearly highlighted, e. g. by using a different font or background colour, as specified in the regulation on the provision of food information. The new specifications of the regulation on the provision of food information that came into force in November 2011 shall apply after an appropriate transition period, and with very few exceptions only, as of 13 December 2014.
